Fibreglass Rhinoceros

This Fibreglass Rhinoceros was built for local artist James Angus, who is probably best known in Perth for “The Cactus” a piece of public art situated at Forrest Place in the CBD.

The original mould was made from a life size plaster model made by James from sketches and photos of the Rhinoceros at the Perth Zoo.

I would imagine this got some crazy looks as it drove down the street when it was delivered…

Mouldings Design produced two of these, one for James and one for the Perth zoo that was used as a large money box, to raise funds for a new enclosure…

Mouldings Design has produced a few mouldings like this that have included fibreglass replicas of a ram and the original monument to busker Percy Button.
